It's Something I Just Don't Understand

So, guess what's my first post is going to be about? Royal Wedding? Nope, guess again!

It's about Wael Ghonim.. There's something about him that I just don't understand... Why is he on The Time 100, the list of the 100 most influential people in the world. I mean, really??

Wael Ghonim is a 30 year old Egyptian man, who until recently, worked as Google's marketing manager in the middle east and north Africa. He is a supporter of Mohamed EL-
Baradei, an Egyptian presidential candidate. He is believed to have played a big role in the Egyptian Jan 25 revolution, and this is what I don't understand. What part did he play exactly? And why is he suddenly an international hero? What is it that he has done to make it to The Time 100 list?

I think he doesn't deserve all the hype that is surrounding him right now. And I personally do not believe him. Maybe there IS something I do not understand. What do you think?

Have your say...

  3. before u deny someones role in the revolution, let's remember what were the catalysts to the revolution - also remember that millions of Egyptians hit the streets AT THE SAME TIME so somebody must have planned something.

    the catalysts were:

    1. Ahmed Ezz: thanks man for the wonderful parliment election fix, u really screwed things up for the ruling party

    2. Bo Azizi: who knew tunisia could ever revolt , followed by Egypt and the middle east ? your blood was avenged Bo Azizi

3.Kolena Khaled Sa3eed ( moderated by Wael Ghoneim) : called for the move, the plan, the timings and mobilized ppl on Jan25 , Jan28 and was there gathering and mobilizing ppl througout the revolution.

if you remove any of the above elements (albeit the ahmed ezz part is debatable) we would still be hearing mubarak's labor day speech today.

  4. I totally agree with you in the point that WHY HIM??? although i believe that he played and important rule in the revolution but he wasn't alone and wasn't thinking alone and there's others as well that deserve even more than what he has got... even he said that " I was only posting messages on the twitter and facebook"..

In my opinion i think its all because of his famous page "Kolena Khaled Sa3eed" cause even before the revolution there was a lot of wondering about who is the admin of this page and as soon as he appears and the veil removed from the page's admin all the eyes went to him and made him a hero...i am not underestimating him or his rule but i think there's others who deserve our concern also ......
