The Food Pyramid Has Been Replaced

Remember in school where we were taught about the food pyramid?

Remember how we were to eat lots of grains, fruits and vegetables and use oils and sweets in very small quantities? Well, all of that has changed! American researchers have found that the food pyramid is no longer a good source for nutrition, and instead they introduced My Plate!

The idea of My Plate is to enjoy all of your food but in small quantities. Notice how they advise us to eat less grains and more vegetables and fruits? It definitely makes sense to me... You can't eat lots of grains and expect yourself to be in a perfect shape! They you advise us to include dairy in our meals, and drink water instead of sugary drinks.

What do you think about the new research?

Summer! Summer!

It's summer and everyone is heading to the beach where the weather is nice! And if you are a fashionista and love beautiful things, I've got two beautiful things for you this summer.

If I would buy one bikini and one maxi dress this summer, these would be them:

This cute maxi dress screams out SUMMER! You can buy it for $264 at Revolveclothing.com

And this bikini, isn't it adorable? I love the yellow and brownstripes, and the halter neck! Oh and the bow sides! I just love it. You can get the set for $76, which is a very reasonable price, at Neimanmarcus.com

Happy shopping!

Mission is in Progress!

I realize that I haven't posted lately, that's because I've been too busy with things in my life...

BUT, I'm soo happy to report that I am losing weight! Slowly but steadily. Part of it because I was sick for more than two weeks, and also because I rarely eat dinner these days, just a big late lunc (at 6 pm) and that's about it!

I'm motivated to lose even more weight because it's summer time, which means it's beach and pool time. I still have 6 kgs to reach my weight goal so I'm not that far and I know I can do it now like I did it before!

I still need to share tips about losing weight, just as soon as I get the time to do that, I promise I will!

On A Mission!

So as some of you may know, I'm a mother. Which means that I was pregnant. Which means that my body has changed a lot through that journey. I gained about 22 kgs throughout pregnancy, and I've lost them all.

What is the mission, you may ask? My mission is to lose more weight, before "gasp" getting pregnant again. I'm not saying I want a bikini body, because, well, I don't wear bikinis. But I want a slimmer body.

And so I am going public with my mission and you are all going to watch me losing the weight! I know I can do it because I've done it many times before. But this time it's different and more challenging.

I have a toddler who just won't leave me alone, the only break I get is her afternoon nap, and usually there's a lot to be done during her nap, so exercising doesn't happen very much.

My goal is to lose 8 kgs in no specific time frame, the important part is not to gain them back. I know a lot about exercise and health and it's time for me to put this knowledge into use.

Today, I weigh 66 kgs... I will try to eat more healthy and exercise more than once a week "sigh". I will share my weight loss journey with you, even post healthy recipes and quick exercises that make weight loss happen.

More on Ghonim

In the last post I mentioned that Wael Ghonim used to work at Google, the correct info is that he is on a one year leave from his job as Marketing Manager in the Middle East and north Africa to establish a charity foundation in Egypt, which is something great to be added to him.

My intention was not to belittle of him or to underestimate his role in the revolution, but I was only wondering why was HE honored in the TIME 100 list and not anyone else? Was it because he cried at interview? Was it because he was imprisoned for 12 days without anyone knowing where he was or whether he was dead or alive? I just don't think he deserved the title.

That's all I was saying... I thank everyone for their comments :)

It's Something I Just Don't Understand

So, guess what's my first post is going to be about? Royal Wedding? Nope, guess again!

It's about Wael Ghonim.. There's something about him that I just don't understand... Why is he on The Time 100, the list of the 100 most influential people in the world. I mean, really??

Wael Ghonim is a 30 year old Egyptian man, who until recently, worked as Google's marketing manager in the middle east and north Africa. He is a supporter of Mohamed EL-
Baradei, an Egyptian presidential candidate. He is believed to have played a big role in the Egyptian Jan 25 revolution, and this is what I don't understand. What part did he play exactly? And why is he suddenly an international hero? What is it that he has done to make it to The Time 100 list?

I think he doesn't deserve all the hype that is surrounding him right now. And I personally do not believe him. Maybe there IS something I do not understand. What do you think?

Have your say...
